LAND

REWILD THE WORLD

We wish to expand the range of endemic species through the installation  of Nesting Boxes

and the promotion of native Landscaping.

Human infrastructures and native ecosystems have been at odds ever since Man laid foot on the island. This conflict has led to numerous extincitions. Nowadays, most native species are found only in a few fragmented protected areas.  These represent around 2% of the total area of the island.

Our dream is to have a future where Human infrastructures and native ecosystems are securely interwoven. This might be achieved through Endemic Landscaping and, in the long run, Organic Architecture. We therefore support the inclusion of native plants in our horticultural species pool.

Our main work thus far has been the installation of nesting boxes for the Mauritian Kestrel.  This was done on private land surrounding the known breeding range. So far, the use of at least one box has been confirmed, proving that we have successfully expanded the breeding range of this endangered species.
